The Pretense
The Pretense

She is smiling—her tears out
She ignores—her fears shout
She is loving—her pain throughout
She knows—her values count
she is feeling—her loneliness
She kills—her own weaknesses
She is studying—her ugliness
She respects—her womanliness
Society is judging—her affairs
The world is blaming her, for each who stares
Society is enjoying her tears
The world hears everything she shares to double up whatever she bares
She is unaware of what she never wants to be aware of
As she still fights to survive for her beloved.
