The Man And The Lad

The Man And The Lad

1 min
183

They stood face to face

Both guy pointed towards each other.

One was from a rebellious insurgency,

The other a decorated soldier;

One was a young lad of fourteen,

The other was a father of three.

A situation that needs no hesitation

Yet the man's hands quiver,

While the lad holds

The trigger in confusion.

Surely the man had pulled

Those triggers far more than the lad,

Surely the man had more wars.

But perhaps he understood

The fear of the young mind.

Or perhaps he was

Much like his son;

Full of life,

That he drops the gun

And stood still.

 the lad hesitate for none,

Perhaps he was deluded

By the wrong minds,

Perhaps he knows no fear

That he pulled the trigger

Into the man's body;

The man had one last word,

" May my sacrifice bring you

A better reasons to drop your guns

That when my son talks about my sacrifice

He will be proud of me."
