THE MAIN STAIRCASE
THE MAIN STAIRCASE
The Main Staircase
The main staircase had seen it all,
With twenty-five steps,
Marbled and patterned in white and brown.
The white formed the layout,
While the brown descended with every step,
With a centre that made the staircase proportionate.
It served as a path into the building,
Where knowledge was imparted,
Shaping young minds to grow bright and enlightened.
It received a joyful hustle,
Thronged during recess and dispersal—
Moments where discipline met delight.
The sight uplifted minds,
A quiet appraisal to changing moods.
It became a stage for assemblies of people,
Gathered in unity and purpose,
Empowered to make the ambience vibrant and jubilant.
It drew constant gazes and stares,
Spreading consistently love, care,
And the values that guide humanity.
Often, it became a space of remembrance,
Where achievements were framed,
And milestones gently captured.
Rows stood filled, posing with pride,
While applause thundered like an opera of effort and success.
At times, it became a basking spot,
When winter sunshine encouraged reflection,
Calm, clean, and bold.
While summers left it still and silent—
A solitary stair,
Resting between journeys of growth.
Such is the fable of the main staircase;
A river of stone, carrying time from step to step—
Guiding generations upward, from learning to leadership.
