The Load
The Load
I saw an old man with a heavy load
Almost doubling his body very low,
His steps staggering and shivering
With the load, he did walk all the way
With unlimited pity, my heart cried
Oh God, What a pain he has to bear!
Two steps ahead I found school children
Walking with their overloaded bags
Lunch bag and water bottles hanging
They were almost beasts of burden
My heart melted again with sorrow
Oh God, what a weight they have to bear
Two old ladies sat, their walking sticks nearby
One mumbled it was telephone call earlier
But it is just a Whats- up the message I get
Our children in the US are too busy to talk
We cannot blame them but drag our lives
My heart broke in deep anguish and pain
Oh God, the pain of these old souls
Coming back I saw the man again
Walking with the same loads on his back
But now I suddenly felt less pain
As he is free to unload his burden after a while
But a load of those old women’s heart
Oh God, Could it be unloaded anytime?
