The Godmen

Never before in the last hundred

Years, it had rained so heavily

To cause the deluge in the Sangli,

Kolhapur and Solapur districts.

The entire area was the worst hit,

Spreading havoc, the loss of life

And the property was just enormous

The disaster management groups,

Equipped with all necessaries,

Could do nothing for days due to floods,

Leaving thousands of starving people, 

At the mercy of the God

In one of the rescue operations,

A group of army men was sailing 

A small boat with a family that

Had taken shelter on the roof

Of a house where they remained

Without food and water for hours

The leading lady folded

Hands expressed gratitude

To the lives savers by touching

Their feet again and again

Heartily calling them the Godmen
