The Girl And the Beasts
The Girl And the Beasts
Have you heard the tale of the girl
With ember eyes
And ashen hair
Didn't have any "desirable" characters
Nor any precious commodities
Or so everyone thought
But her heart was pure as the driven snow
A soul warm as the sun
Used to lay under the pines
With her harp
Would sing to birds and beasts
Considered her their shaman, they did
Adams and Eves
Thought her crazy
And thus she lived
Within the unventured greens
It was a time when man and beast
Lived in peace
But soon the population of men rose
Needed more space they did
And so stole their land
Burned the greens and cut the woods
Save our homes and our hides
Pleaded the creatures to the shaman
Unwillingly
She tried to parlay
Only to face sticks and stones
Seeing this the creatures retreated
Deeper and deeper into the unknown
But far-seeing the girl was
Knew that a pit of endless greed
That existed within her kind
Would devour her domain
Hopeless and jaded
Turned to the skies
But no help came
As the forests
Became thinner and thinner
And that's when she snapped
Lost her calm and patience
Summoned her loyal followers
With one spell she drove them mad
They tore her into pieces and
Devoured her
When they came back to their senses
Regret and sorrow was all they saw
Some of them
Blamed the humans
And pledged revenge
Only flesh we'll eat from now on
Human flesh and so carnivores they became
The others felt sorry but didn't quite agree
Decided to stick to leaves and greens
And thus came to be herbivores
Enraging the carnivores side by side
Hunt and kill the herbs
Eradicate them and the humans we shall
This their motto became
When the war broke
Unaware of the tale
Adam decided to go after both
Purging many
Reducing numerous
And cultivating the faithful
The war got over long ago
The humans had finally won
Nearly wiped out all the beasts
Till some called for peace
And protection of the beasts
And that is the bitter story of the girl
And the beasts
What was her name you ask
Nature is what she was called
