The Fragrance of Jasmine
The Fragrance of Jasmine

There is a strange joy I feel
In moments of loving you
The roots of which I know not
Whose branches embrace you.
I dive into you deeper and deeper
Like the familiar scent of earth
After rains soaking into my breath
Making me feel lighter and lighter.
The fragrance of jasmine lingers
On my sinful fingertips too
When I crown you with a garland
While singing praises for you.
The soft halo surrounding the diya
That I light for you as an offering,
>
Keeps me in nights a little warmer
And at heart a little saner too.
The pain you render me at times is
So akin to your love so divine,
Else why would I feel so light and
Breezy after hours of endless crying?
It has a strange nectar healing
My deepest wounds buried within
The countless coffins of my heart
Slowly and gracefully dying.
Your pain makes me a little livelier
Your love makes me a little humbler
And your presence makes me a little softer
When I dive into you deeper and deeper.
