The Days Long Ago

I remember that day long ago,

My first day in college long ago,

New, a little shy,

Still wonder was it me so shy?

    You were there as always,

    My support as always,

    My pillar of strength,

    My greatest friend.

Then somewhere down the line,

There merged the fine line,

Of love and friendship,

Where you were more than a friend.

    I was scared of losing you,

    I was scared of ending us,

    The relation of me and you,

    Of being a nobody,

    From being a part of you.

I tried to speak to you,

I tried to approach you,

But you were so happy,

With her you were so happy

   I wiped my tears with my hands,

   And laughed through my tears.

Now it has been 20 years,

But when I think back,

At times I see you all the way back,

In your wedding dress,

With her as the bride,

And you as the groom.

   But today,

   I am happy once more,

   When I see our family,

    You, me and them,

    Our two precious ones.

The days of being,

The third wheel are over,

The days of being,

Just a friend are over.

   Now we are man and wife,

   Now we are each other's life,

   And I am happy,

   With you and them.

With nothing to separate us,

Not even a memory,

Of the days,

Bygone.
