The Colours of a Woman

we are red, blood through our veins

blood of our cycles.

in our emotions.

we are brown, earth colours

skin and soul resting in one.

we are black, unknowable

hidden depths awaiting exploration.

we are gold, our loving lights

shining for the world.

we are pink, soft yielding

forgiving transgressions, heartfelt.

we are grey, steel, resilient

strength and survivors.

we are green, always nurturing

life comes through our bodies.

we are yellow, warm healing

life giving, shining like sun.

we are white, stars shining in our eyes,

reflective, tranquil in solitude.

we are orange, fire in bellies

fighting injustices, saying no.

we are purple, regal in bearing

all human life depends on us.

We are blue, oceanic skies

shades of vast empty seas,

beautiful watery deep.

We are yellow, cheerful and energized

Big sun, bright heart, universe contained within me.
