That Bike Ride

That Bike Ride

3 mins
619

We were zooming past the vehicles on the road.

Hastening to our destination on a sunny afternoon.

Advancing to proceed but crowds were throughout.

Him and I on a regular motorbike, painted black and red.

Vroom-Vroom sound echoes blasting from the engine.

Getting annoyed by the slow movement of traffic.

We were getting late for our meeting and eating.

The view over our head suddenly became cloudy.

What would be our next plan, if rain bursts any minute?

We were not ready! With no raincoats or umbrella for this instant.

If it drizzled, then it was just okay but pouring heavily, my worry.

We can rush to the nearest restroom where we could freshen up.

After drying clothes we would join others in the conference room.

It was unexpected: Our CEO's crafty move for idle employees.

Can you hurry, I grumbled to my co-rider without a pause?

His prompt reply made me spank him on the head in that instance.

It was more like a taunt on my face rather than a friendly retort.

"Am I riding a helicopter that it would just fly over the crowd?"

Was my bike-mate for real? A snob in my view but hard to overlook.

Was he joking or starving as we had skipped lunch to arrive at the venue?

Rain poured at the exact moment, sweeping away my rising temper.

We soaked in the rain, clasping a hand on the speeding bike.

Appeared like two carefree souls on the road, without tension.

I forgot the purpose of riding on the cloudy and a deserted street.

It was sheer joy, the shower touching my upward looking face.

My vision was blurred, water dripped from the body, but my hair was dry.

I was yelling into my friend's ears, but the sound was lost in the downpour.

He slowed down in the middle of the road and turned back to have a look.

Time stood still, I fell in love with the person looking at me with his twinkling eyes.

It washed away the doubts and pain I was closely guarding for days.

I would cherish the rain today, tomorrow and every day throughout the rest of my life.

Discovered love in the rain, and I overlooked my anguish that minute.

I was soaking in the warmth of my buddy's love and attention.

God, I did not want the feelings of heaven to slip away!

Vulnerable on that lonely street, bathed in the rain and his endless hope,

I acknowledged the love in the end and responded to his proposal.

The meeting was suspended that day, and we heaved a sigh out of relief!

I noticed him on that rainy day, wearing love tinted glasses up my eyes.

I dropped my inhibitions when he engulfed me in a wet hug.

Our love resembled rain: gentle and heavy or thunderous & breezy.

We had created memories together running and giggling hand in hand.

Eating corns and vada-pav from stalls, drinking tea on earthen pots.

Lost myself in his unfathomable love that rose and prolonged every minute.

I would remember the rain whenever I lift my head to have a glimpse of him and would sink in his affection.
