Sunset Talkies

Sunset Talkies

Sky dyes itself in varying hues of gold and red as it bids Sun a sweet break.

Its peak hour in the sky where all fliers are in a hurry to get back to their dwelling places.

I ponder don't they stumble upon each other as humans?

And if transpired, do they quarrel in their sweet chirping?

The atmosphere is sweetened with different blends of incense flavours.

Aunties hastening to take clothes off the railings.

Windows are shut, curtains are put.

Diyas and candles are lit, azaan is heard.

And then is that moment of peaceful silence, which passes quickly as wick melts.

It's chucklesome to watch those late lateefs flapping hurriedly before the dark approaches.

Then they arrive, the shiny escorts, who illumine the dark and set the scene for

welcoming The Silent Moon.
