Soldier's Whisper
Soldier's Whisper
Brakes were releasing slowly, wheels gathered pace
Creaking under the weight
Groaning and moaning on blistering tracks.
One heart creaked under despair,
Longing not to say, "au revoir".
Emotions thumped brazenly in her cage
Yet stoic she picked her stride
He had to go and she could not plead.
Was it last that their gaze froze
With endless promises of seamless time
That was to come with him, or without him.
"she too will lead, like you, " she cried.
Cupping her eight months unborn child.
I know that my love,
You are olive wife daring and strong,
My olive child drinks nectar of patriotism
Before she's born.
