Serpent of Eden

Serpent of Eden

Fluttered Wings on a slender pile, wickedness and hate,

For the garden was mine, the souls - his to take,

Through means of tongue, his brawn or brain,

Nothing to lose, but all to gain.

'And eat it so you shall conquer light', the dark mist had a show,

'Apple of fate is yours to eat', he made the desires grow.

And so she ate what 'he' told not to,

For anything but a snake,

A fallen Angel in disguise,

Had eons to put at stake.

I knew the truth of what he was, what he did I knew,

But all I could do was nothing, but to see her delusion brew.

With hate, and guilt, and Lust, O'heavens

We had our future shunned,

O' Eve, my wife, I don't know why,

By you this deed was done.

But who was me to forbid the course,

As serpent got me too,

My promise to 'Him' had gone astray,

For I thought her words were true.

And alas! We lost the wings of light,

From hide all through the kin,

For I knew what a treacherous thing, we'd done,

The first of 'Sin'.
