Sad Little Wish
Sad Little Wish
How can one be alone in a crowd?
Surrounded by love but not feeling it.
Often falling into the chasm of depression.
Sad thoughts coming out as angry words.
Wanting to be the centre of attention,
For fear of being forgotten among many.
But in the end being avoided all the same,
Because now you are too clingy.
I swear if I see a wishing well,
I'll toss in a coin and ask for love,
Not the kind that others give,
But the kind that I have to make.
The kind that enjoys being alone,
I want a special kind of love,
That helps me finish a coffee alone,
The love that looks in the mirror and says,
"That's a fine young women indeed."
The love that I need is a little rare
Because the kind that I need,
Places my entire life on a scale,
And doesn't care to which side it tips.
