Remembering my Granny
Remembering my Granny
It's hard to believe that
My granny left us
I still feel that she's busy in
Performing household chores.
A hard-working woman who
Never looked for any support
For she believed that she could
Even build castles through her
own efforts.
She's always in my memory
Her affectionate callings still
Rings in my ears
She was always eager to know
How I conquered my fears.
She had an indomitable spirit to
Live her life no matter what came
She always wished to be a part
On my sister's wedding day,
My heart knows that she would be
Around unnoticed near the Mandap
At my sister's wedding to
Shower her infinite blessings.
It feels absolutely effortless
To compose a poem on her memory
For she has always been
An Integral part of my life.
Tomorrow when my family
Would perform rituals on
Her death anniversary, I can
Only offer her a piece of the
Favourite fruit that she liked,
To cherish those last moments
Which I had with her
When I fed mango slices
While she laying in bed,
Enjoyed every bit of it.
I can still see her smiling face
On closing my eyes and
Often search her in old
Women that I come across
In my daily life,
She's always with us, glancing
At us lovingly but unnoticed!
