RAY
RAY
Deep in the heart of the bright ray
Lies a nest in which darkness lays
So perfectly hidden it is
Even to the most skeptical of eyes.
Who would dare believe
The existence of a secret so deep.
Each day that dawns
The ray dims.
Each night that crawls
The demons creep.
Step by step, they manipulate the ray
With caressing whispers they soon become a drug.
An addiction that sucks the very glow.
An elevation of sweet torture hard to resist.
All the memories long forgotten
Replaced with hideous shadows that shake the very core.
What they crave is the tiny streak of light
That inhabits the ray's soul.
If only they could diminish
That which threatens their own existence!
But dare not touch they know
Lest they awaken their own doom.
