Poetry Is Addictive
Poetry Is Addictive
Careful, my friend,
I see you have written
Your very first poem.
It is my duty to tell you,
You may soon find yourself
Under the spell of The Muse.
She'll come to you in dreams
And whisper her sweet song;
You'll feel like in a trance,
You'll have no choice but to write.
Words will demand to meet the world,
You won’t be able to imprison them,
They are too mighty to be kept under wraps.
I suggest you surrender,
This will be the most delicious defeat in your life.
Trust me; you don't want to win this fight.
Instead, abandon your post
And head over to your desk.
Let poetry take over you,
Allow her to overwhelm you.
This is your new addiction,
One for which you need no cure,
Deliver us your passion and your pain,
And in return, life will keep on giving you
All the poetry you'll ever need
And then some.
