Papa
Papa
The most important man in my life...
A kiss awoke the sleeping beauty, his lips lingering on her forehead
His sweet aroma engulfing her, his warmth soothing and protective.
The food he prepared, eggs and bacon
Served on the table ready to be devoured,
Chocolate milk in her favorite mug, he had gifted her long ago.
Hair plaited into two, her dress ironed
A bag full of books, both stumbling out with an umbrella.
The rain poured down heavy, puddles of water every two steps,
The umbrella over their heads, she boarded the bus with a smile.
She waved her little hands, a frown replacing the smile,
Already missing the giant who had carried her in his arms.
An action of his hands, a funny face pulled,
He made her laugh again, an enthusiastic wave in the end.
Today, she sits in the car, decorated with flowers
Her hand in her husband's with tears in her eyes.
She sees him cry for the first time.
Her father wishes to engulf her, he wishes to smile through his tears again.
