Our Love Train
Our Love Train
I love trains
And I loved them more the other day
As we sat beside each other in the railway station
Waiting to return to our respective hometowns
To let our families know about our love...
I love trains
And I loved them more the other day
Because trains mark the completion of a family's journey to me...
A man and woman start their journey on feet
Wanting their hands and feet to be in rhythm
Wanting a slow march of time as opposed to their raging passion of love...
Gradually, the man and woman graduate to bikes and cars
Wanting to reach destinations faster
Love does not flow like a breeze anymore
Love turns into a cyclone with dates and dinners and vacations...
Then, the man and woman graduate to buses
Wanting to feel proud of their partners in public
Wanting to maintain heavy purses, as the home is about to expand.
And then, the man and woman finally turn to trains
Wanting to set out on a long journey of understanding
Wanting to accommodate the entire family...
As we sat beside each other the other day
As freight trains and passenger trains sped behind us
I felt that our love had already started the train journey
I agree that a huge family is not yet in the picture
But haven't we already set out on a journey of understanding?
Maybe we do not exchange as many romantic phrases as earlier
Maybe I do not hold your hand as frequent as earlier
The beauty lies in the fact that love has not reduced a bit
It has simply entered the secure zone
Where it has realized that love-lines and hand-holds are no longer necessary...
May distances come, may silences come
The train will continue on its track
Because it knows very well that though we have matured
You and I are still childish and passionate enough
To set out on a long walk any day.
