My Role Model

I searched for her high and low, 
I searched desperately. 
for a role model to follow,

i wanted someone to show 
 how I should be.
I wandered a long time in search of me. 

I waited for a motto, a role model and a guide to help me.

I forgot the 'now'
 for a future I couldn't see. 

 I wanted to walk a path
 made by others for me. 
 I wanted to be like others
 and thought it would make life easy.

I waited for a tomorrow 
and forgot my todays. 
And suddenly it dawned 

i have to make today from yesterday
I have to make a  tomorrow from today. 

My search was over when I realised
 my role model was me. 
I have to pave my way for
there is no known path for me. 
I have to be me and that 

......... has set me free.
