Poem- My Mother

Poem- My Mother

Perennial spring of eternal love,

Shielded me from the weaponry of the world,

Magically cloaked me in care and

hid me from pain and despair.

Sparrows, pigeons on her eave

Her favorite guests she wished would never leave

A feast she laid out for crows

And send messages to departed souls.

A booming tone, a boisterous laugh,

Put song and dance in her routine.

Clowned and sang till we laughed and cried,

Her sing-song way made every day a musical.

Our home - a haven and refuge to one and all

Her kindness - a beacon light to lost souls.

She welcomed all to her home and hearth,

Embraced the light with the dark.

A zen spirit, a Sufi soul embodied good than preach God.

If her love is the only joy life could afford me...

...is enough bliss and more than earth.
