My Deteriorating World

I wake up one day only to find,

To each other's agony, people have gone blind!

State-sanctioned time-bound walks,

Deaths and rising cases in the news and public talks,

Dead bodies piling up at the mortal grounds,

Waiting to be disposed of with no loved ones around.

New social distancing norms,

Have thrown relations out of form.

Often I reprimand my child,

"Stay away!" from people, out in the wild.

A slight sneeze or dry cough,

Sends a shiver down, makes life tough.

It isn't any ordinary flu,

Wish people understood its clues.

Capricious and nature Hideous,

The virus alters forms, which isn't a bit tedious.

At times, I wish, Had humans cared enough?

For not ruining Mother Nature with their senseless stuff.

Could have then Mother Nature been a bit kind,

The pandemic has knocked on our doors only to remind -

The earth belongs to every life form,

Humans are no one to challenge "Her" norms.

The then "Master of Earth" stands with folded palms,

Kneels before God and seeks relief as alms.

With schools shut and curfews returning like this,

Makes me ponder, Where's that bliss?

The unborn, the old, and the young,

Have a common song to be sung.

"O Mother Earth, Let the innocent be spared,

Take the devils into death's snare.

Let your womb, once again breathe,

For we have run out of wreaths"
