My biggest prize

My biggest prize

In an orange dress she shone so bright

Dark eyes that sparkled in the light

Focused and determined, with a smile so true

I couldn't help but fall for her, as I caught her view

We locked eyes, and never looked away

In crowded rooms, or on lonely days

We spent countless hours together

But it was her voice that truly captured me forever

I ventured out of my comfort zone

To finally meet her in the flesh, and be known

And still, I can't forget the way her eyes shone

When she saw me for the first time, alone

I forgot the chocolates, but she didn't mind

Her caring nature, always so kind

In sickness and in storm, she stood by me

Through it all, her love, she set me free

I remember the day we first met

And how I surprised her, on her birthday, with a little date

She helped me out, even in her busy life

And made my world, less pain, less strife

But most of all, I'll always remember

The way she looked at me, in September

With love and affection, in her shining eyes

I knew then, she was my biggest prize.
