Mom, I Don't Want To Be You

Dear mom,

From generations, people often want their daughter to be like their mother,

But, I don't want to be you,

As the time has changed and me too!

I know the struggles you had, the problems you faced,

The hurdles you crossed, the society you faced. 

But, now the time has changed, 

It's not the time to sit and be quiet,

The time is to roar and be loud,

To stand for what we are and not what we should be. 

The time was when you were not allowed to work, 

But now, its work from home, 

The time was when you were being abused and tortured,

But now, its being free from the fall.

The time was of being dependent on him for what he earned,

But now, its time that you can earn and be independent. 

Yes, I do not want to be you, as I want to be me.
