Mirage
Mirage
In the desert of golden sand,
I strain my eyes to see a band
Of cool trees and water blue.
After searching night and day,
I find an oasis pretty and gay.
Happy I was, but had no clue,
It was but an elaborate mirage.
My dreams are gone quash,
As I sit with a heart full of rue.
It was an illusion, a deception,
Very much like my broken relation,
And I'm left licking my wounds.
Beware you, who is looking for love,
Be warned, you may fall in a cove,
For relations are illusions.
