Memories
Memories
I laid my foot
On the wet, clayey soil
It compressed beneath
Heartwarming and satisfying
Oh! The component of my wonderful village!
The beauty of the hometown
Trees of coconut all over
The pervading smell of lavender
Made me joyous
With contentment none could find!!
My childhood knocked the doorway of my head
Watching puppet shows
Mesmerized of women in ornaments
Roaming always in the open fields
Fishing in the glittering water of rivers
All a bliss!!
I spotted my old wooden house
Classic and old fashioned
On a rocking armchair
Sat my Granny dressed in white
Her everlasting smile
And her shrivelled hands greeted me!!
I remembered my adamant fights
With my kind parents
To stay back in the city
But the sight of my hometown
Bought a ripple happiness
on my somber face
I saw a glimpse
Of the auspicious memories that had faded away!!
The present then sparked realization
Of the state of my heaven - My village
Now to be destroyed
The news made me perplexed
Unstoppable it was
To the construction of cities
All made me heartbroken
The fragments of my childhood
Calmed my broken heart
They reminded me of my innocence and freedom I had
The warmth of the villager's affection!!
