Manikarnika
Manikarnika
Since India will be completing 75 years of independence and taking the ‘’Har ghar tiranga “movement into consideration. I am proud to share the glorious story about a brave freedom fighter of India who contributed in the first step towards our independence even sacrificing her life.
And the first step towards our independence was the Revolt of 1857. Started by Mangal Pandey many leaders from different regions of the nation revolted like Nana Saheb from Kanpur, Meerut, Delhi, Hazrat Mahal from Lucknow among them was the great queen of Jhansi. Anything for such freedom fighters is less but still I would like people and the younger generations to know about such freedom fighters because of them today we are a democratic and an independent country.
" Khub ladi Mardani thi woh toh Jhansi wali Rani thi" this is a famous couplet I had always heard and thought why not write a poem in English about Rani Lakshmi Bai because I doubt that there only might be few. Title of the poem is Marnikarnika and here goes the poem!!
King of Jhansi's bride
later became Jhansi's pride
She was Jhan
si's queen
with courage and nationalism
She was always seen
Rani Lakshmi Bai fought with
the British cheats
who had stepped on her soil,
on her streets
With British she didn't join hands
she decided to fight with
those who stepped on her lands
Rani of Jhansi who was a lioness-heart
She became 1857's revolt an important part
Along with Tantiya Tope she went
to British’s old friend
to Sindhias’ of Gwalior she showed
a dead end
She rode on a horse with her adopted son
with her courage, hearts of all the queen had won
The British & Rani Lakshmi Bai had a severe fight
but the time for the young queen
was not right
The British tried to kill
the queen shouted her will
"Let them not touch my body", She said
where on the battlefield she lay cold and dead
This was the queen's story
who for her country attained
Eternal glory
Jai Hind Jai Bharat
