Love & Hate
Love & Hate
Of all the emotions a soul can bear,
Love is the cruelest—beautiful, yet unfair.
It arrives without warning,
Like dawn after an endless night,
Promising forever with a whisper,
Only to disappear before first light.
It teaches your heart to dream,
Then laughs as those dreams fall apart.
It builds a home inside your soul,
Only to leave without taking its shadow.
Love never asks for permission.
It enters, conquers, and decides your fate.
It gives you reasons to believe,
Then hands you silence when you wait.
So if love were standing before me,
I'd have only one thing to say:
I'd rather carry the weight of a broken heart
Than live imprisoned by false hope.
At least broken hearts know the truth;
False hope keeps dying a thousand quiet deaths.
Love is an impostor—
A thief dressed in light.
It steals your peace,
Your sleep,
Your reason,
Until you no longer recognize yourself.
It makes the ordinary feel magical,
A single smile become an entire universe.
Then, just as easily,
It turns that universe into ashes.
It blinds your judgment,
Chains your emotions,
And lets destiny wear your face.
That's why I tell the world I hate love.
But hate has never been the opposite of love.
Indifference is.
The truth is...
I hate love because I still believe in it.
And perhaps that's love's greatest victory—
Even after it breaks us,
It leaves us hoping.
