LIVING'S FOR GIVING (Theme: Simple Joys of Life)
LIVING'S FOR GIVING (Theme: Simple Joys of Life)
When I can make someone smile or laugh,
When I can show the young the innocence of a calf,
When I gloat over ribaldry, akin to Falstaff,
Then I hear voices at the back, crying “Enough is enough!”
The sight of alms-seekers brings tears,
But when the young share among themselves, allaying fears
The same bed and lie awake telling tales of dears,
We look before at the forget-me-not King Lears.
Joys in life can be of various kinds,
But simple ones bring peace to lofty minds,
Life is a journey and its joys are the signs
Whereby the much-needed oxygen for living, aligns.
Receiving gifts from unexpected quarters, is always welcome
Material gifts become immaterial to the spiritually-inclined some,
Simple joys are hidden in nooks and corners to surface seldom,
We humans are but puny creatures in Universe’s earldom.
To give is by far better than to take,
To bring a smile on lips do all happiness make,
On my mother’s birthdays I do often make a cake,
We share it with friends and watch mirth flowing for joy’s sake!
