Light (Rest in Peace)
Light (Rest in Peace)
I met you at a time of your life when you might have been doing your best. I met you at your most Light. Brave, caring, limitless, just like your vices.
And turns out, we both had similar vices.
Mountainous discussions, living on the edge of our lives
looking at some of the most beautiful wonders of the world.
Yet, are we humble? Are you?
Are we shrewd
for living out our lives trying to forget dark spells
of disease and addiction and the need
to be something more?
My friend, I often think about you and all the things that you could have been. I think about the Light that shined brighter than most.
Is it really better to burn out than fade away?
Now I know that you had thought so all along.
What would you be doing now?
Climbing the highest mountains or cooking more meatballs?
I miss you,
and although it was only for a short while I consider
you to be one of my greatest friends
I’ve ever had.
We did, after all, escape death together a thousand feet from the ground.
Rest in peace.
