Life Indebted
Life Indebted
You owe your life to many hearts
You know and may never know;
To many, your eyes haven't seen,
Your ears haven't even heard of,
And faces your mind can't recollect.
They who deserve genuine praise
Are the ones dodging consciously.
They are worthy of recognition,
For their hearts aren't archives
Of good deeds done unto you.
Refrain from those who keep records
Of gratitude shown in your affliction.
For they will grumble in public
At your inability to return the same.
They lend goodness to earn them double-fold.
Hold on to those who are blessed
With forgetfulness of their favor,
For they don't proclaim them
Atop the high hills for their self-glory.
And you shall never forget to repay them.
Accept the benevolence of those hearts
That hardly keeps a debt registry.
Take pride in generous gestures,
No matter how small or big they are,
And never forget them, whom you owe so much.
