Lessons To Learn

All my life I thought I was the King,

I gave orders and people obeyed,

I reserved rewards without any offering,

Never saw the look of their dismay.

Today I feel like a vanished wing,

I lost those who were once with me,

No one would now push my swing,

Now its time for me to worry.

To start looking for the same place,

From where those gone once served,

This time no one is there for me to solace,

And I sit with my feelings reserved.

The worst is when I see an old face,

Instead of him now I was looking up,

I felt it like it was a big disgrace,

When he bothered not enough to stop.

How tides turn and king-ships burn,

We no more remain where we once were,

Only the lessons and memories churn,

As life demands us to persevere.

If there is one thing I learnt from life,

It is full of the unexpected tides,

Tides that feel like a slashing knife,

That can kill all your earned prides.

What remains is your soul unsearched,

If only you had bothered for it earlier,

Your emotions still remain unearthed,

If only with them I was already familiar.

Did I not say that I ignored or never bothered?

When they saw me like a snake that slithers?

Another big lesson today I have gathered,

Has now taught me to start caring for others.
