"When are you coming back?"

A question was thrown at a jawan the most

After "How's the josh?" Of course

With no definite answer of the former

The josh is always held high!

Quick question though

Doesn't that break you. Ever?

Amidst toe biting temperatures

Of Siachin

When you get stuck under a

Pile of snow, for days

With no definite way of

Coming out alive,

What burning thoughts keep you warm

To come back to life, only with a risk of dying?

When you lose your brothers while sleeping,

Waking up to gunshots and

Their dead bodies as the first sight

Even before the morning sunrise,

How does your hand,

Your rock solid hand,

Reaches to the grenades and bullets

To get back at the militants

Before they reach out to smudge away that

Little tear gooped at the corner of your eye?

Doesn't that give you sleepless nights?

When a bunch of you drove off that way,

On that fateful day

Where apocalypse was proposed to nature

And devil descended to do the deed at its disposal,

Painted Valentine's day red and black, forever,

What must've been your last trail of thoughts

Before that explosion took your breath away?

Was it- when will I get to see my son?

Or as simple as- can I get a tea somewhere?

Or an existential one- when and how will my life end?

Can't help but obsess over these questions

That'll never make to definite answers.

Last question though-

How do we avenge your murder

When vengeance will cost us more of you?
