Icarus
Icarus

There is a pain that the soul feels
With every touch a layer of me peels
Amidst the chaos and the bustle that is all around me
I find myself in darkness found in the deepest depths of the sea
A silence that no one can even begin to fathom
What I’ve lived through though is anything but random
There was a time when I was gifted wings made of wax
I threw caution to the wind and let my heart relax
I flew close to the sun of desire
The heat that engulfed me soon led to a fire
My wings melted away and left me bare
Those around me admonished me with a cold stare
Icarus was blamed for getting too close to the sun
I was pelted upon for letting love my heart run
His life was lost for the sea to swallow
My soul was lost to forever become hollow
I sit entrapped within a torturous dome
Wondering when I’ll finally get to be home.
