I Wish I Could...
I Wish I Could...
I wish I could hold back the time,
Freeze a moment, make it mine.
Catch your laughter in a jar,
And keep it close when you're too far.
I wish I could mend every heart,
Patch the pieces torn apart.
Whisper hope in every ear,
And wipe away each silent tear.
I wish I could rewind the days,
Walk again those olden ways.
Say the things I left unsaid,
To those who now just live in head.
I wish I could slow down goodbyes,
Still the storm in weeping skies.
Stretch a second, make it stay,
So love won’t have to fade away.
I wish I could be someone’s light,
A gentle voice in darkest night.
To lift a soul when they fall through,
And tell them, “I believe in you.”
I wish I could turn pain to peace,
Let every aching moment cease.
Trade my strength for someone’s fight,
Give my dawn to someone’s night.
But wishes drift like stars that die,
Soft as wind and hard to tie.
Still in my heart, they bloom and live—
The love I wish I had to give.
