I'm An Open Book

I am an open book,

I know not what page I am on,

Every book needs a reader,

So, thank you for that.

I have been an open book all my life,

Because I am all I know,

I speak in first person,

In a second I wish to revert to second.

You are an open book,

Yet you can read as well,

Though we both sit on the shelf,

I wish to be more than myself.

We are open books,

Yet selective with what we share,

Those inquisitive need bookmarks to learn,

To take in words and reflect upon what was said.

I am colorblind,

So, the ink inside might be bloodstained,

It may have run out a long time ago,

Who am I to say, I am but a book.

I am not an author,

But the world along with our circumstances,

Plays a role in the steps we all take,

They tell a story using our likenesses.

I am a book,

I wish to expand,

I yearn to understand,

I want to read everything.
