I Knew
I Knew
As I watch the moonlit sky,
A single drop of tear escapes my eye.
This was the day when you proposed to me,
I think, then I sigh.
This was the day when I turned you down,
For I thought that I didn't love you,
But deep in my heart I knew,
I knew that was not at all true.
But the moment you went away,
A nagging incomprehensible feeling infused my mind,
Which said that I loved you,
But now you would be hard to find.
So I got ready to pursue you,
And after years, I finally espied you,
But deep in my heart I knew,
I knew that was not at all true.
Because there you were, standing,
With a lot of dignity and fame,
But when I tried to pursue the heart I had fallen for,
I knew it was not the same.
