Grief is just love with no place to go
Grief is just love with no place to go
It’s hard to stay happy when the people
Around you are drowning in sadness.
Even if they are not near you,
Even when you are miles apart,
The pain always finds a way to
Travel through all the distances and
It rightly settles in the corner of your heart.
And what do we do with that pain?
Should we shelter it?
Or should we act as if it isn’t there?
And when that pain remains untouched
It aches even more.
Then what do we do?
Over the years,
The pain feels at home in your heart,
That you can’t help but think,
How the pain itself has
Turned out to be a part of you.
And I wonder-
How much of the pain that
I hold in my heart is truly mine,
And how much of it is carried to me
through the ones I love?
How much of it is real
And how much of it is that
I created on my own?
Maybe they are right,
“Grief indeed is just love with no place to go”.
