For My Brothers
For My Brothers
Remembering the Rakhis of our childhood. Celebration marked by gaiety and good food. We prayed for you and tied the sacred thread. To protect us from all perils. you pledged. The ritual glorified by tales of valor. Troubled sister. saved by brave brother. You were little and your wrists tiny. The Rakhis we tied were big and shiny.
Money taken from parents and further given. Differences set aside and wrongs forgiven. No fights on the Rakshabandhan day. Sibling love held us in sway. Ages since I tied a Rakhi on your wrist. Yet the knots of those I tied as a kid remain strong and hold us together. I am proud to have you as my brother.
