As time progressed, all differences suppressed,
Insects and plants in chorus proudly chanted,
“We are superior!” their voices rose and danced.
Birds and beasts joined the growing madness,
Elephant declared himself better than camel,
Mosquito spared the ant, calling it saintly and humble.
Donkey shouted, “I am white!”
Sheep whispered, “I am right!”
Lion roared, “I am might!”
Owl hooted, “I alone shine in the night!”
Grass stood proud of its grounded root,
Apple and banana boasted of the fruits they bore.
Then slithered snake and rat in protest,
“Why do humans play us as cricket and bat?”
Crow cawed, “I have an extra ‘r’ than cow!”
Scorpion bragged of its poisonous sting,
“Why must Earth sit beside her smaller moon?”
Sun, the elder, rested smugly at noon.
Jupiter puffed, “I am big!” — yet mocked for being gas,
Venus shimmered, playing her game of cosmic chess.
Ocean boycotted sea and river with disdain,
Lakes and wells burned with feverish pain.
Fierce wars erupted between mountain and mine,
“We cannot together dine!” they cried.
Gold stared down at silver and copper with scorn, Steel sneered,
“Try making a chopper without me reborn!”
