Dawn
Dawn
By its ablest soldiers, the nightstands deserted.
The moon and the stars are nowhere to be seen.
Over a crumbling fortress, it desperately struggles,
To retain control by all possible means.
The wise owl slinks back into its hollow.
Nocturnal hunters hastily retreat.
A white flag unfurls across the sky.
Surrendering to avoid a humiliating defeat.
The news reaches the birds who fly out of their nests,
Eager to bask in the morning glory.
Other animals pause for a moment and reflect,
On what has been a well-deserved victory.
A pleasantly cool air awaits them all,
Caressed by the gentle rays of the sun.
Man too wakes up, rejuvenated and ready,
To face the day which has just begun.
