Shifted to the other side of the road
Deceptive, starless night
Another nap, a long one this time
Buoyant dreams betrayed my eyeballs.
A warbler prior to first light
Wakes up to do the impractical.
A leap from my new verandah
and across the road, he flies.
To strike my glass window with its beak
My former home came to life
When he tried to break out
From endless sky to enter my finite site.
One year went by so fast.
The yellow-throated did it every day.
Leap, strike, fly back to start
Come again with greater force, strike again.
And a stream of thoughts
Started running into my head.
Why is he doing so? What does he want?
And as always I begin with my day.
