Dancing With Death
Dancing With Death
Enjoying the beach party,
With family and friends heartily
Away from my country
Got a gentle knock from catastrophe.
Before I could validate,
Agitate and contemplate,
She clasped me with open arms to captivate
Like an online friend but legitimate.
In a quest to trace the guest,
Had to do a test.
Thus revealing the answer,
The name of the guest was, "Lung Cancer"
My world crashed upside down,
Felt beaten and left to drown.
Brewed fear and insanity,
Infusing emotional and mental perplexity.
Drifting to another realm, a celestial depth,
Found myself, "Dancing with Death"
My arm stretched, body arched, she flared at me,
As I contemplated to surrender or flee.
With rage, pain, and fear,
Drew myself near.
Facing eye to eye,
Questioned, "Am I gonna die?"
She roared and howled a wicked laughter,
Flashing powerful chemo dagger.
And said, "In this fight against each other"
Winner is, "The one who fights harder"
Then I could diffuse,
It was a game to win or lose.
I had an option to choose,
So chose to flee, without confuse.
The moment I made that decision,
Witnessed the enemy weaken.
Donned my armor, preparing to fight the dark side,
With doctors, Kith, and kin to guide.
Fought a good fight,
Won the battle neat and bright.
Experience and scars will always be,
To remember as a part of me.
She revisits my dreams, to convey,
The intention wasn't to destroy, but a hurdle on the way.
Appreciates, I used it to my advantage,
Forged my strength with courage.
Escapism and fear don't work too
Acceptance and confronting, help you break through.
If you're on this journey, just like me,
Remember, you have a choice, don't surrender but choose to flee.
