Controlled Youth

Controlled Youth

Half-life took from us without a clue

All we got was those dirty looks

Never asked about our health

It was all about money we used

Not in the streets after 6

Boys were the excuse

To stop us from doing things we'd love to

We have a world beyond pink and blue

Only if you could see the ignored truth

We wouldn't have to hide the pain

Of being lonely even if we had you

Everyone's a mess can't you see them bloom?

When you don't get better grades

The neighbours brag about their child getting an A

Shut down all the comments from the family group

Don't show me the mirror

I write my own story in Malibu

Telling white lies have become a part of our life

Dancing in short or sari, is it a crime?

You had me staring at you drama even when I know you're happy inside

Not a kid like before, don't sing me a lullaby

When you try to hide the truth

But I peek in like the last time

Don't think we don't understand

Trying to control who we are

The youth ain't yours, it's mine
