Birds have a need to fly free,

To soar in the air without any restrictions or decree,

So when you cage one of these creatures,

Chain and bind them against their will,

In layers of protectiveness and "care",

Newly-found suffocation isn't all they have to bear,

Resilient creatures as they are, they try ,

They try to imagine a world, a time,

When they can fly high above ,

Even the tallest towers ,

The countdown begins,

And they set aside their resolve for nerve-wracking adventures.

But as time goes on,

And they see no signs of their promised freedom,

The noose around their necks begins to tighten,

Birds need to be able to spread their wings and soar,

When you deprive them of what's their second nature,

They try to escape, to find a place without such gore,

They aren't used to freedom anymore ,

But it's all they ask for,

And as they fight and scream,

Hoping for a way out of this vivid dream,

There comes a time when they stop,

And await the dangers, unseen,

For their resolve is now broken,

They no longer eagerly await the day they will be free,

Instead, they slave away and hope for an end,

A way to cut away this catastrophe.

Those are the most dangerous birds of all,

The ones who have been broken,

For they no longer care,

About their own selves, they will soon be forgotten,

No one can see their soul or spirit,

Now broken and rotten,

They lower their beaks,

Throw away their dreams,

They await their fate,

With no courage or emotion,

What's written in destiny, they can't change,

So let it be,

Mindless robots without passion or focus,

They slowly fade away ,

Into a vast and endless misery,

For caged birds have no wings,

Their mere presence is a mockery,

They have no key to end their troubles

And no way,

To ever reclaim their lost ivory.
