Breathe Again
Breathe Again
The streets all stretch out empty,
Each human in his home,
Not a single person was seen outside,
Where they are known to roam.
Dust settles on the footpath,
And in the alleys too,
Just clouds, not a plane in the sky,
Where they usually flew.
The virus shushed the towns,
And the cities that don't sleep,
Now there's just the grocers, milkmen,
And the community service sweep.
But flowers lift their wilted heads,
Tree branches touch the sky,
There isn't any stifling smoke
So now the birds will fly.
The virus, in all its costs,
Drives a hard bargain,
Because though there are widespread deaths,
Nature can breathe again.
