Being Together
Being Together
They promised to love each other till the end of their lives
No more does his rio help them rendezvous to drink and smoke pipes
She no more asks him to give her a piggyback ride
Their hands now wrinkled and weak, yet they hold one another’s tight
Their eyes cannot see, but they find each other
He doesn’t need to match her pace anymore, both of them now walk slow
They write, sing and dance to the songs from the folklore
He draws her sketches and paints her portrait; he's still her muse in writing poetries
And once every month they would have Chinese from the place near the church
Where they went for dates as they say, “When we were young”
They say we tolerate yet ardently they treasure each other
Thus, they fulfilled their promise till the end of being together.
