An Ode to my Mother
An Ode to my Mother
You promise to hold me if I fall
and vow to counsel me in my stupid stance
assure me to uplift my drooping spirits
I wish I could hear your commanding lyrics
And be chastised from your mouth
I could count on you whenever I felt down
I want to forget everything in your arms
You were my protective shield
The one who guarded me from all harms
Your gestures to feed me nutrition
And my reluctance
the way I never listened
Your ears could hear before I spoke
Your eyes could see before anything I showed
You heart could sense before I felt
You are a star now
But your light twinkles in me
I am your reflection
You and I are now we
