An adrift address
An adrift address
I was born here but that doesn’t weigh any more
The color of my bark defines where I come from
The tongue I speak determines who I am
The name I was given defines where I reside
Where I was born concerns no more
The world is at a crossroad
Between motion and condemnation
Between peace and war
Between living and dead
But what do we do when our leaders
Openly commit acts of sedition
Acts that defy the constitution
That conceives mass confusion
Chaos amidst pre-existing delusion
A language is not my home
A religion is not my home
A society is not my name
A nation is not my address
This earth is my home
And I will fight for it
Our nature is my mother
And I will strive for it
Our future may peril
But I will compete for it
Sitting idly by only does inflict
When there are people in power
Whom we can’t disarm
Who turns a blind eye
Towards searing, feeble bodies
Awaiting their turn to die.
Insurrection against the constitution
against society against humanity
Can all still be healed
But environmental sedition
Will be the end of mankind.
If this perseveres, who knows how long we subsist.
