Aloneness
Aloneness
I am left alone in the midst of way, seen dappled flowers sodden and still----
Passed a large scale of time otiose and faineant, the days and nights of slothfulness
Living still in time, fallen leaves in the Sulphur fire and an invisible hand
On the aureate sand, and every moment is an end in itself,
Is a subtle way to make new beginning, and a flower on the shore
Words and music muffled, the dribbling rain drops in the ocean,
The sea is far away from me,
Sea, sea, sea everywhere. In time waves rise and fall, in time we grow feeble and fragile
And the home turns out to be a dilapidated garden,
The design more confounded and perplexing
Of coming and going into the same flux..
So I am again, into the deep cabin of indissoluble sea, webbed and cribbed
And no ending to the endless sorrows
And the ceasing flow in the starlit sky
And the ending of time, a new beginning
And new-world....
